Chelsea squad 'hold crisis talks'

Chelsea's first-team squad held a 'clear-the-air meeting at training' following Sunday's 6-0 defeat to Manchester City, according to a report.

Chelsea's first-team squad reportedly held a 'clear-the-air meeting at training' following Sunday's 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League.

The loss at the Etihad Stadium was the club's worst in Premier League history and an inconsistent run of form has seen them drop out of the top four in the Premier League table.

Maurizio Sarri's future as head coach is far from secure, amid suggestions that Chelsea could decide to place current assistant Gianfranco Zola in charge for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to The Sun, Chelsea players held a team meeting on Monday to discuss the current situation, but it is unclear whether Sarri was a part of the crisis talks.

Sarri's fate as head coach of the English giants will reportedly be decided in the next two weeks, with the Blues facing Malmo twice in the Europa League, Manchester United in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the EFL Cup final.

The odds on Sarri being sacked have been slashed following the disappointing result at the Etihad Stadium.
