Thomas Tuchel hints at Kai Havertz start against Real Madrid

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel hints that Kai Havertz will keep his place at the tip of the attack for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has hinted that Kai Havertz will lead the line for the Blues in Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid.

The Germany international could not prevent his side going down 4-1 to Brentford in a shock Premier League loss, despite playing the full 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel has Romelu Lukaku pining for more minutes on the bench, but the German has claimed that "animal" Havertz was his side's strongest player in their drubbing against the Bees.

"I felt he was our strongest player. I think he worked like an animal and was very dangerous. I am very happy with his performance in particular," Tuchel told reporters after the game.

Havertz featured from the off in both legs of Chelsea's last-16 victory over Lille and headed home the opening goal after just eight minutes of his side's 2-0 win in the first match with Les Dogues.

The 22-year-old has amassed 11 goals and five assists in 36 appearances for the Blues this term, with six of those strikes coming in the Premier League - only Mason Mount (8) has more at Chelsea. body check tags ::
