Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Fabinho will recover from a hamstring problem in time to play against Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month.

The Brazilian sparked concern when he went down on the turf in the first half of Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa and had to be replaced by Jordan Henderson.

Fabinho is now understood to have picked up a minor hamstring injury, which is significant enough to rule him out of the weekend's FA Cup final with Chelsea at Wembley.

The midfielder is also a doubt for the Reds' final two Premier League games with Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Klopp is counting on him being fit and ready for Paris on May 28.

Speaking at his FA Cup final pre-match press conference, Klopp told reporters: "He will definitely be back for the Champions League final.

"Before we will see, we don't know. He is OK, he's a professional. Obviously he's not happy about it, that's clear. But he took it, he's absolutely OK."

Fabinho's eight goals and one assist in 47 games this season have proved instrumental in Liverpool's push for the quadruple, and Henderson is expected to play the holding role at Wembley in the 28-year-old's absence.

Liverpool head into Saturday's final having already gotten the better of Chelsea on penalties in this year's EFL Cup final, and only once before have the two same sides met in both finals in a single campaign.

Arsenal defeated Sheffield Wednesday on both occasions in 1992-93 to lift the cup double, but Klopp was keen to stress that his side did not truly 'beat' Chelsea back in February.

"We didn't 'beat' Chelsea. We won the penalty shootout I've said a few times, without luck you have no chance, and luck was on our side that day," the German added.

"It was a tough, tight game and we know how good Chelsea are and we expect another tough game. Both teams will go for all they have. That's what I expect from Chelsea and that's what I especially expect from us."

Prior to reaching the 2021-22 final, Klopp had never taken Liverpool past the fifth round of the FA Cup, and not since 2006 have the Reds lifted the prestigious trophy.

Victory at Wembley would mark Liverpool's eighth FA Cup in their 130-year history, and Klopp is relishing the "massive" occasion awaiting him in the capital.

"We are really looking forward to this opportunity. The boys worked their socks off to arrive here, with all the different challenges over the year," Klopp added.

"It's now a massive final for us and I'm really happy we are part of it. We always gave our all to arrive to the final [previously], we just didn't make it."

While Liverpool contest the final, Manchester City will aim to move six points clear of Klopp's men in the Premier League table when they face West Ham United on Sunday.
