Christian Eriksen has revealed why he chose to sign for Brentford.

The Danish midfielder has not played a game of football since his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, and because of the fact he had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator fitted, he was prohibited from playing in Serie A.

Inter Milan allowed the 29-year-old to leave the club in order to pursue his footballing career, and that led him to the Bees, who picked up Eriksen on a deal until the end of the season.

"To pick Brentford, I spoke to Thomas, the coach, a few times and had a feeling. It is in London, for my family, it is a good place to be and they play in the Premier League and for me, for the next four months or five months to get up to level," he said.

"To get to show who I am, that I am a football player, I think that was the best option. Luckily they agreed to it so yeah, it was a perfect mix so far."

Eriksen has the opportunity to make his debut for Brentford on Wednesday when they face Manchester City in the Premier League.
