How Bayern Munich could line up against Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich will be aiming to win their 11th consecutive match in all competitions when they take on Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The Bavarians defeated title rivals Borussia Dortmund 3-2 prior to the international break to move three points clear of BVB in the table, as well as keeping their two-point lead over RB Leipzig intact.

As such, Hansi Flick's side will be confident of comfortably dispatching a Bremen side who have admittedly improved, but were only a relegation playoff away from being demoted to the German second tier last season.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Bayern could line up for Saturday's showdown against Bremen.

Out: Joshua Kimmich (knee), Alphonso Davies (ankle)
Doubtful: Corentin Tolisso (muscular)

Bayern will be without key players Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies for the match against Bremen.

Davies has been out since being substituted in the third minute during the 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on October 24, with the Canada left-back suffering ankle ligament damage. He should be available for first-team action again in early December.

Kimmich, meanwhile, sustained meniscus damage when attempting to tackle Erling Braut Haaland during the first half against Dortmund, with the midfielder immediately stretchered off as a result. He is unlikely to play again until the New Year.

His replacement against Dortmund and natural successor, Corentin Tolisso, is a minor doubt for the match against Bremen after withdrawing from international duty with France earlier this week, but France manager Didier Deschamps described the midfielder's injury as "nothing serious".

It is likely Tolisso will replace Kimmich in the starting XI on Saturday, then, with Javi Martinez waiting in the wings if not.

Otherwise, Bayern appear to be at full strength, with Niklas Sule available again having completed his isolation period due to coronavirus.

Jerome Boateng was substituted against Dortmund due to a knock, but Flick has preferred Sule when both defenders have been fit in any case, so Sule is likely to partner David Alaba at the heart of Bayern's defence.

Flick's only other dilemma is whether to start Kingsley Coman or Leroy Sane on the opposite flank to Serge Gnabry. Sane scored as a substitute on his Der Klassiker debut last time out, so may be rewarded with a start. body check tags ::
