How Bayern Munich could line up against AEK Athens

Sports Mole looks at how Bayern Munich could line up in Tuesday's Champions League clash with AEK Athens.

Bayern Munich won a football match for the first time since September 22 on Saturday as they recorded a 3-1 victory away to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

The success was huge for Bayern in terms of confidence following a difficult run, and the German champions will now be looking to pick up what would be an important three points in the Champions League.

Bayern opened their Group E challenge with a 2-0 win at Benfica, but were held by Ajax in their last home European fixture, and will be aware of the need to collect all three points on their trip to Greece this week.

AEK are unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions, however, and have only lost one of their last nine fixtures on home soil.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Bayern could line up on Tuesday night.

Out: Corentin Tolisso (knee), Kingsley Coman (ankle)

David Alaba returned from a hamstring problem in Bayern's 3-1 win over Wolfsburg at the weekend, and the left-back should again start here.

There was more good news on the injury front as Rafinha made his return from an ankle injury off the bench, although Joshua Kimmich is expected to continue on the right of a defence that will also include Mats Hummels and Niklas Sule.

Arjen Robben's upcoming domestic ban means that the Dutchman is likely to keep his spot for this match, while there could also be a midfield position for Leon Goretzka, with Serge Gnabry dropping to the bench.

Neither Thomas Muller nor Franck Ribery were used against Wolfsburg, but the former is expected to return to the starting XI for this match.

Robert Lewandowski, meanwhile, scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season at the weekend, and the Poland international will again be tasked with leading the line on Tuesday night.
