Report: Paris Saint-Germain to hijack Barcelona's Matthijs de Ligt deal

Barcelona risk being pipped to the signing of Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt by Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to steal Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt from under Barcelona's noses.

The 19-year-old defender is expected to be at the centre of a huge bidding war this summer as Juventus, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also believed to be in the running to sign him.

Barca, having already agreed a deal for fellow talented Ajax ace Frenkie de Jong, are said to have stepped up their pursuit for De Ligt.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, PSG are ready to step in with an offer of their own and also have an added advantage.

The French giants are currently in discussions with the Netherlands international's agent Mino Raiola about a new deal for Marco Verratti, which they believe can aid their cause.

De Ligt has 67 appearances under his belt in Eredivisie for Ajax, despite still being a teenager.
