Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has suggested that he will do everything possible to retain the services of Memphis Depay.

Since entering the final year of his contract, Depay has been heavily linked with a switch to Barcelona in 2021.

However, the 27-year-old has continued to star for Lyon, contributing 13 goals and six assists as his club bid to edge out Paris Saint-Germain and Lille for the Ligue 1 title.

Despite speculation regarding the Netherlands international's future, Aulas says that he will continue to try to keep hold of the attacker in the long term.

Speaking to Le Progres, Aulas said: "Until the end we believe that he will renew for next season. Right now it is not something that is possible but why not?"

"He is a great talent, world class. There are not many like him in the team. He brings solutions. I always wanted him to remain but our offers did not convince him."

Depay has been with Lyon since January 2017, scoring a total of 68 goals from 156 matches. body check tags ::
