Barcelona have seemingly teased the return of club legend Lionel Messi.

Despite being reluctant to leave, Messi departed Barcelona in the summer of 2021 due to the club's poor financial situation.

The Argentine subsequently signed a two-year deal with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, where he scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 75 competitive appearances.

Although he won two Ligue 1 titles with the Parisians, Messi struggled to settle in the French capital and ultimately decided against signing an extension with the club.

After leaving PSG at the end of the 2022-23 season, the World Cup winner was linked with a move back/a> to Barcelona.

However, a sensational return failed to materialise and Messi went on to join MLS franchise Inter Miami on a free transfer.

During his short time in Florida, Messi has registered 11 goals and five assists in 13 matches across all competitions.

The 36-year-old helped the club win the Leagues Cup in August, but he has missed the last few weeks of action due to injury.

With Inter Miami unable to reach the MLS playoffs, Messi's domestic season will end this month and there has been speculation about a loan move to Barcelona in January.

The La Liga champions have now added to the rumours by teasing a potential reunion with Messi via the club's Instagram account.

Barcelona posted images, created by Krea.Ai, which resemble some of Messi's most infamous goal celebrations during his time with the La Liga club.

Messi enjoyed significant success in his Barcelona career, winning multiple honours, including 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.

Barcelona's all-time record scorer racked up 672 goals in 778 competitive appearances for the Catalan giants.

Although he has been struggling with injury, Messi is expected to link up with the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru. body check tags ::
