Sergio Aguero's record vs. Valencia

Sports Mole looks at Sergio Aguero's record against Valencia ahead of Barcelona's La Liga clash with Los Che.

Barcelona are hopeful of being able to name Sergio Aguero in their squad for Sunday's La Liga clash against Valencia, with the Argentine finally returning from a calf problem.

The 33-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Catalan giants, having picked up an injury towards the start of August.

However, the former Manchester City forward has recently returned to training and featured in a training match against Cornella on Wednesday, finding the back of the net during his 30 minutes on the field.

The South American could now be in line to make his official debut for Ronald Koeman's side in Sunday night's league contest against Valencia at Camp Nou.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the attacker has fared against Los Che in the past.

Aguero has turned out against Valencia on 13 previous occasions, with all of those appearances coming during his time at Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine has a record of four wins, three draws and six defeats against Los Che in all competitions, showing that it has been a real mixed bag for the forward when he has previously taken on the former Spanish champions.

Aguero has scored five times against Valencia, in addition to providing three assists; four of those goals came in La Liga, while two of the assists also arrived in Spain's top flight.

As well as the league, the striker has faced Los Che on two occasions in the Europa League, with both legs of the quarter-final against Atletico during the 2009-10 season finishing level.

Aguero has also tackled Valencia twice in the Copa del Rey and found the back of the net in the second leg of their quarter-final during the 2007-08 campaign.

The South American netted home and away against Los Che during the 2007-08 and 2009-10 La Liga campaigns, but a record of just three wins from nine matches for Atletico is somewhat of a surprise.

Aguero's last game against Valencia ended in disappointment, meanwhile, as Atletico suffered a 2-1 home defeat in December 2011, with Joaquin scoring a brace the visitors.

The forward has also picked up three yellow cards against Los Che in the past, and it could be a very cagey contest at Camp Nou this weekend as Barcelona look to bounce back from successive defeats, the last of which was a 2-0 loss at Atletico before the international break. body check tags ::
