How Barcelona could line up against Bayern Munich

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Barcelona could line up for Tuesday's Champions League group-stage clash with Bayern Munich.

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has several attacking dilemmas to ponder for his side's Champions League opener with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The Blaugrana are already without Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Aguero and Ansu Fati through injury, while Martin Braithwaite is set for surgery on a knee problem and Antoine Griezmann has returned to Atletico Madrid.

New arrival Luuk de Jong is surely guaranteed to lead the line amid Barca's injury woes, while Memphis Depay and the now-fit Philippe Coutinho are options in the wide areas.

There should be no surprises in Koeman's well-stocked midfield, though, where Pedri, Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong should form a recognisable and effective triumvirate.

Sergino Dest was restricted to indoor work on Saturday after returning from the international break with a knock, so Sergi Roberto may be given the nod on the right-hand side of defence.

On the opposite side of defence, Jordi Alba will need to be assessed due to a knock of his own, but the 32-year-old is reported to be training with the group and should be fine to feature.

Gerard Pique missed out against Getafe before the international break but is expected to return to the fold here, while Ronald Araujo - a late return from international duty - will hope to get the nod in front of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Araujo, Pique, Alba; Busquets, F. de Jong, Pedri; Depay, L. de Jong, Coutinho
