Report: Carl Jenkinson awarded Arsenal lifeline

By , Football League Correspondent | 4d
A report claims that Carl Jenkinson has impressed Unai Emery with his attitude in training and is to be rewarded with more regular first-team opportunities.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reportedly informed full-back Carl Jenkinson that he will be more involved in his first-team plans for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old has been used just five times in all competitions since Emery took charge last summer, each of those coming in cup competitions.

Jenkinson's lack of first-team action has seen him touted as a target for Burnley, West Bromwich Albion and Ipswich Town during the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, however, the long-term injury sustained by Hector Bellerin last weekend has given the Englishman a lifeline at the Emirates Stadium.

Emery is said to have been impressed with Jenkinson's attitude in training and is willing to give him a fair chance to earn a regular spot in the side.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Stephan Lichsteiner are Arsenal's other options in the troublesome left-back position.
