Martin Odegaard has reportedly agreed terms on a five-year deal with Arsenal ahead of his imminent move from Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old was an undisputed starter under Mikel Arteta during the second half of the 2020-21 season, registering two goals and two assists during a six-month loan spell.

Odegaard initially posted a fond farewell message to the Gunners on social media, seemingly indicating that he would not be returning to North London, but Arteta's side are now said to be closing in on a permanent deal.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Odegaard has agreed terms on a contract until 2026 with Arsenal, with the Norway captain the priority of Edu and Arteta in the number 10 role.

Romano adds that Real Madrid will pocket just short of €40m (£34.1m) from the sale of Odegaard, who was left out of Carlo Ancelotti's squad for their La Liga win over Alaves at the weekend.

Odegaard initially joined Los Blancos as a 16-year-old in 2015 but has only made 11 appearances for the senior team in that time, registering no goals or assists. body check tags ::
