Marseille are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares on a loan deal.

The Gunners signed Tavares from Benfica last summer for £7.2m, and although he made 28 appearances in the 2021-22 season, the 22-year-old faced criticism for his performances from fans and pundits.

With Arsenal reportedly showing an interest in Aaron Hickey and Federico Dimarco, the Portugal Under-21 international could fall down the pecking order, which has led to speculation linking him with a loan move away from North London.

According to The Sun, Marseille have made contact with the Gunners over the possibility of taking the left-back on loan for the 2022-23 season.

A move to the Ligue 1 side would give Tavares the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season after Marseille finished in second position in the 2021-22 campaign.

Tavares has never featured in the Champions League, with his only European experience coming in the Europa League for Benfica. body check tags ::
