Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out the possibility of Alexandre Lacazette signing a new deal with the club.

The Frenchman produced a stellar 25-minute cameo against Crystal Palace on Monday night and found the back of the net with virtually the last kick of the game to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw.

Lacazette has struggled to force his way into Arteta's starting lineup this term, though, and he is widely expected to move on when his deal runs out at the end of the season.

However, when asked by reporters in a press conference if Lacazette staying beyond 2022 was impossible, Arteta responded: "No. Anything is possible."

The Spaniard also affirmed that Lacazette has a big part to play this season, adding: "Since I've been here he's played a lot and been important and he will continue to be important.

"I had no doubts about that (his motivation) and if I did I would probably have decided to do something different in the summer if the motivation was just his financial future. It's not the case with Laca."

Lacazette's last-minute equaliser against Palace was his 68th goal from 175 games in an Arsenal jersey. body check tags ::
