Arsenal 'one of four Premier League clubs interested in Martin Odegaard'

As many as four Premier League clubs are understood to be interested in a deal for Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard, who has impressed on loan at Arsenal.

Arsenal may reportedly have to fend off interest from three other Premier League clubs if they want to land Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal this summer.

The Norway captain has made an immediate impression at the Emirates since arriving on loan from Real Madrid in January, and the Gunners are understandably keen to keep him on the books beyond the end of the season.

However, Mikel Arteta's side are facing the prospect of a season without European football if they fail to go all the way in the Europa League, which could have a major impact on their summer plans.

Furthermore, 90Min reports that three of Arsenal's top-flight rivals are also interested in Odegaard, who has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid after failing to win over Zinedine Zidane.

The report adds that a fee of £40m could be enough to prise the 22-year-old away from the Bernabeu, despite his reported £300m release clause, but his £200k-a-week wages could also prove problematic for Arsenal if they fail to qualify for continental competition.

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in Odegaard, who has registered two goals for Arsenal during his short time at the Emirates. body check tags ::
