Leicester City are reportedly increasingly likely to retain the services of Youri Tielemans this summer.

With less than 12 months remaining on the Belgium international's contract, a transfer elsewhere has been considered to be a foregone conclusion.

That was believed to be particularly true with a wide range of clubs said to be contemplating an approach for the playmaker.

However, with six weeks of the summer transfer window remaining, Tielemans is still in line to represent the Foxes in the Premier League next season.

According to The Athletic, it is deemed increasingly likely that the 25-year-old will see out his contract at the King Power Stadium.

The report references Arsenal's long-standing interest in the former Monaco man with head coach Mikel Arteta seemingly still interested in acquiring a new midfielder.

Depending on your perception, the Gunners may have resolved that need by instead moving to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, the Ukrainian said to want to be deployed in the centre of the pitch rather than at left-back.

Nevertheless, it is claimed that Arsenal are yet to propose any kind of deal for Tielemans since the end of the season, their admiration remaining at a distance.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen to hold discussions with Tielemans in the coming days to determine their respective next moves.

Rodgers has been left frustrated with the East Midlands outfit remaining as the only top-flight club to not make a first-team addition this summer.

The report adds that there has been a lack of offers for many of their senior players who will be out of contract at the end of 2022-23.

With Leicester not participating in Europe and Rodgers having had to deal with high squad numbers last season, it is suggested that there is a reluctance to add any fresh faces until they are complemented with exits.

Although Leicester ended the most recent campaign in eighth position, that spot was only claimed through Wolverhampton Wanderers' poor end to the season. body check tags ::
