How Arsenal could line up against Norwich City

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Wednesday night's Premier League clash with rock-bottom Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium for the first time in almost four months when relegation-threatened Norwich City visit North London on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta's side have endured mixed fortunes since the restart, losing to Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion but then bouncing back against Southampton and Sheffield United, the latter in the FA Cup.

The Gunners will welcome the chance to finally return to the Emirates, though, where they won three in a row before lockdown and will be favourites to make it four against the league's bottom-placed team.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for the contest.

Out: Bernd Leno (knee), Gabriel Martinelli (knee), Pablo Mari (ankle), Lucas Torreira (ankle), Calum Chambers (knee)
Doubtful: Mesut Ozil (back), David Luiz (ankle), Cedric Soares (face)

No team in the Premier League have quite as many injury absences or doubts as Arsenal right now, with the Gunners having been hit hard by the restart.

Bernd Leno, Gabriel Martinelli and Pablo Mari have all been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign since Arsenal returned to action, while David Luiz and Mesut Ozil added to their troubles at the weekend.

Ozil missed out entirely for the FA Cup win over Sheffield United having sat out of training due to a slight back injury, while Luiz picked up an ankle problem during the game itself and both are now doubts for this game too.

Arteta has deployed a back three in his last two games and it is a formation which has worked well for him so far, and he is therefore expected to stick with it - albeit with some personnel changes from the weekend.

Rob Holding, Dani Ceballos and Hector Bellerin are among the players expected to return to the starting lineup, while top-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will also return after being given the day off at the weekend.

Alexandre Lacazette started against the Blades but has found himself behind Eddie Nketiah in the Premier League pecking order recently, and that is likely to be the case once again.

In more positive injury news, Cedric Soares could also be in line to make his long-awaited debut in this match as he nears his recovery from a broken nose.
