Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has scooped the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September.

The Spaniard oversaw a major turnaround in fortunes at the Emirates with three straight victories over Burnley, Norwich City and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to surge from 20th to a spot in the top half of the rankings.

Arsenal have since dropped to 11th after a goalless stalemate with Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Gunners' winning streak in September has seen Arteta crowned the manager of the month for the first time since taking over.

Speaking to arsenal.com about the award, Arteta said: "It's great to have it. It represents the way has been together, has been working and has been positive in difficult moments to continue to work with the right mentality, right ambitions and the right work and direction."

Arteta also took time to praise the contributions of his coaching staff, adding: "I get it [the award] but it's for all the people behind it."

Arteta beat Dean Smith, Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter and Pep Guardiola to the award after Nuno Espirito Santo scooped the August prize. body check tags ::
