Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta claims that he is feeling better after testing positive for coronavirus on Thursday

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has claimed that he is "feeling better already" after testing positive for coronavirus yesterday.

The Spaniard became the first high-profile Premier League name to contract the virus, and all elite-level games in England have been suspended until April at the earliest in response to the outbreak.

However, Arteta confirmed in a tweet that he is on the road to recovery, saying: "Thanks for your words and support. Feeling better already.

"We're all facing a huge & unprecedented challenge. Everyone's health is all that matters right now. Protect each other by following the guidelines and we'll come through this together.

"Well done PL for making the right decisions."

Arsenal players and staff have been self-isolating following Arteta's diagnosis. body check tags ::
