Liverpool to be investigated over false positive COVID-19 tests?

:Headline: Liverpool to be investigated over false positive COVID-19 tests?:
Liverpool may reportedly face an investigation by the EFL following the news that most of their recent COVID-19 cases were false positives.

Liverpool could reportedly face an investigation into their recent batch of false positive COVID-19 tests.

A plethora of Reds players and staff seemingly contracted the virus before their EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Arsenal, forcing the tie to be postponed and training centres to be shut.

However, Jurgen Klopp subsequently revealed that only Trent Alexander-Arnold had COVID-19, with the other tests all turning out to be false positives.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are now 'facing questions' over their coronavirus cluster, and the EFL are coming under pressure to investigate the Anfield outbreak.

The report adds that a number of clubs have been left 'upset' due to their fixtures not being postponed for genuine COVID-19 cases, and Liverpool could face a 'severe punishment' if found to have committed any wrongdoing.

With such a high number of false positive tests in one batch considered almost impossible, numerous clubs are reportedly calling on the EFL to conduct a proper investigation into the outbreak.

Liverpool returned to action with a 4-1 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town on Sunday, and the first leg against the Gunners is now scheduled for Thursday evening.
