Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek reportedly remains interested in a proposed takeover of Arsenal.

The Swedish billionaire is a lifelong Gunners fan and announced his intentions to take control of the club shortly after they withdrew from the European Super League last month.

According to Sky Sports News, Ek is expected to make an opening bid of around £1.8bn, but he was not prepared to announce the offer this week as he did not want to cause a distraction ahead of Arsenal's Europe League second-leg tie with Villarreal.

Ek has ambitions to transform the North London club, who currently languish in ninth place in the Premier League, and hopes to build a team that can challenge for domestic titles and European trophies.

Stan Kroenke, who has been the club's owner since April 2011, is understood to be 100% committed to the Gunners and has no interest in selling.

However, Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira have all backed the proposed takeover by Ek, as has former manager Arsene Wenger. body check tags ::
