Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has provided an update on his future amid talks over a new contract.

Several members of Mikel Arteta's squad have already signed new deals in 2023, including Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

William Saliba and Reiss Nelson have also committed their long-term futures to Arsenal after the pair penned new contracts in July.

The North London club have now turned their attention to Odegaard, who has two years left to run on his current contract.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently told Caught Offside that discussions over a new deal are ongoing, with the player and the club keen to reach an agreement.

With further talks set to take place in the near future, Odegaard was asked about his Arsenal future while on international duty with Norway.

Speaking prior to Tuesday's Euro 2024 qualifier with Georgia, Odegaard told Nettavisen: "I don't have much to say, apart from the fact that I am very happy at Arsenal.

"I hope I can be there for a long time. Beyond that, I have no comment right now. Now, it is the national team that is in focus."

The 24-year-old went on to score in Tuesday's qualifying clash just eight minutes after Manchester City's Erling Haaland had netted the opener, ensuring Norway rounded off the international period with a 2-1 victory over Georgia.

Odegaard initially joined Arsenal on a loan deal from Real Sociedad in January 2021, before he made the move permanent in the following summer transfer window.

Since arriving in North London, the Norwegian has established himself as a key member of Arteta's squad, and he was subsequently named captain ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Odegaard enjoyed a successful campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 37 Premier League matches to help Arsenal achieve a second-place finish.

The playmaker has carried his impressive form into the new season, finding the net in wins over Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

Having helped his side collect 10 points from their opening four league games, Odegaard will look to play a pivotal role when Arsenal return to Premier League action against Everton on Sunday. body check tags ::
