How Arsenal could line up against Leeds United

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up in Tuesday's EFL Cup clash with Leeds United.

Arsenal will again be without the services of Granit Xhaka for Tuesday's EFL Cup last-16 clash with fellow Premier League side Leeds United due to a long-term knee injury.

Kieran Tierney, meanwhile, is set to miss out due to an ankle complaint, but the Gunners are otherwise in good shape heading into the contest at the Emirates Stadium.

Head coach Mikel Arteta will make wholesale changes to the side that started against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Gabriel Martinelli, Bernd Leno, Mohamed Elneny, Cedric Soares, Nicolas Pepe and Rob Holding among those expected to come into the XI.

Sead Kolasinac is also pushing to be involved, but Nuno Tavares could retain his spot at left-back, with the 21-year-old looking to make the most of Tierney's absence.

Folarin Balogun is pushing to be included at the tip of the attack, with the youngster involved in the last round of the competition against AFC Wimbledon.

Leno has dropped behind Aaron Ramsdale in the pecking order for the spot between the sticks, but it seems likely that the German will be handed the gloves on Tuesday night.

Alexandre Lacazette led the attack in the last round against Wimbledon but could drop to the bench, as he has recently worked his way back into the Premier League side.

Arsenal possible starting lineup: Leno; Cedric, Holding, Mari, Nuno; Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Lokonga; Martinelli, Balogun, Pepe body check tags ::
