Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta "worried" about Granit Xhaka injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits his concern over Granit Xhaka's injury after the Swiss midfielder was forced off in the win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that he is "pretty worried" about Granit Xhaka following the midfielder's injury in the North London derby.

The Switzerland captain returned to the starting lineup on Sunday after serving a suspension and recovering from COVID-19, but he hobbled off the pitch 82 minutes into that 3-1 win.

Lucas Moura collided into Xhaka after the Tottenham man was initially tackled by Thomas Partey, and Arteta has offered a pessimistic update on his midfielder's situation.

Speaking to the media after the game, Arteta said: "Unfortunately he got an injury and I'm pretty worried because it doesn't look very positive at the moment."

Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka all found the back of the net for Arsenal in that North London derby success - their third Premier League win on the bounce.

With no European football to contend with, the Gunners now have the luxury of six days' rest before next Saturday's visit to Brighton & Hove Albion.
