How Arsenal could line up against Newcastle United

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.

Arsenal will be looking to book their spot in the fourth round of this season's FA Cup when they welcome Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners, who are the holders and most successful side in the history of the competition, will enter the clash with the Magpies off the back of three straight Premier League wins.

The club's recent impressive run has eased the pressure on head coach Mikel Arteta, who steered his team past Chelsea in last season's FA Cup final to win his first trophy at the helm.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up against Newcastle.

Doubtful: Gabriel Magalhaes (coronavirus), Thomas Partey (thigh)

Arsenal's squad is in excellent shape at the moment, with only Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey doubts for Saturday's contest, but the pair could both be involved.

Indeed, Gabriel has now recovered from coronavirus and is likely to be back in the starting side against Newcastle barring any issues on Friday, while Thomas has overcome a thigh issue and is in contention to make the XI.

Arteta will make changes from the side that started against West Bromwich Albion, with Alex Runarsson, Cedric Soares, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Gabriel Martinelli and Joe Willock all in line for starts.

Eddie Nketiah could also get the nod in the final third, meanwhile, with both Pierre-Emerick Aubmeyang and Alexandre Lacazette likely to be rested for next week's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

David Luiz and Willian are also pushing for spots in the side, but the latter could lose out to Nicolas Pepe, who is expected to be given another chance to impress in a wide area.
