R Kelly faces a lengthy jail sentence after being found guilty in his trial for sex trafficking.

R Kelly is facing decades in jail after a jury found him guilty of charges including sex trafficking, kidnapping and bribery.

The 54-year-old - known for hits including 'I Believe I Can Fly' - has been dogged by accusations of misconduct for years and was arrested in summer 2019 following the broadcast of a damning documentary, Surviving R Kelly.

In a six-week trial, jurors heard from numerous victims - female and male, some underage at the time - who described how the singer had variously sexually abused them and filmed them performing degrading acts.

The jury took just two days of deliberations before finding him guilty on nine counts including the most serious, racketeering, which effectively classifies his behaviour as a criminal enterprise.

Gloria Allred, a lawyer for several of the victims, said: "I've been practising law for 47 years. During this time, I've pursued many sexual predators who have committed crimes against women and children.

"Of all the predators that I have pursued, Mr Kelly is the worst."

Sentencing, which is likely to be for the maximum of 20 years, has been set for May 4 next year.
