Meat Loaf, Celine Dion songwriter Jim Steinman dies aged 73
Legendary songwriter Jim Steinman dies of kidney failure at the age of 73.

Legendary songwriter Jim Steinman has died at the age of 73, it has been announced.

In a career stretching back to the late '60s, Steinman worked with the biggest names in the business, including Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand.

Hits he worked on included Dion's 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', Tyler's signature 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and most of Meat Loaf's back catalogue - from 'Bat out of Hell' to 'I'd Do Anything For Love' and 'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad'.

According to TMZ, Steinman was taken into hospital in Los Angeles in the early hours of Sunday morning and died there on Monday.

Bill Steinman, Jim's brother, told reporters that he had died of kidney failure and had been unwell "for some time".
