Former Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson joins Hollyoaks in the role of mysterious newcomer Lexi.

Natalie Anderson has joined the cast of Hollyoaks playing mysterious newcomer Lexi.

The actress appeared on the ITV soap between 2010 and 2015 as Leyla's sister - and later, David's wife - with the character eventually departing for a new life in Portugal.

First appearing next week, Lexi has a secret connection to Grace's new love interest Nate (Chris Charles) - but is he seeing two women at the same time or does she arrive in the village for another reason?

The storyline is set to play out over the coming months, with the Deverauxs getting involved as "the secrets they have buried are soon to be resurfaced".

"I'm so thrilled to be playing Lexi. She's such a strong and intriguing character with lots of layers, that I'm thoroughly enjoying playing with," said Anderson.

"I've loved working with Chris Charles and exploring the dynamic between Lexi and Nate's relationship as the storyline unfolds.... I'm having so much fun, and everyone at Hollyoaks have been so lovely and welcoming."

Lexi's first appearance comes during E4's first-look episode next Thursday, October 28.
