The Rasmus to represent Finland at Eurovision 2022
'In The Shadows' rockers The Rasmus are selected to represent Finland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.

Rock group The Rasmus have been overwhelmingly selected to become the representative of Finland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The four-piece formed in 1994 and gained global attention in 2003 with their emo bop 'In The Shadows', which reached number three in the UK and topped the charts in countries including Germany.

The group took part in the Finnish selection contest - Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu - on Saturday night with their song 'Jezebel', which finished first with both the jury vote and the televote for a total of 310 points - almost 90 points clear of second place.

Describing the song, frontman Lauri Ylonen said: "Jezebel was a biblical troublemaker, who did things her own way and really shook things up. We wanted to introduce her to the modern-day world.

"The song is also a bit tongue-in-cheek, which is pretty unusual for The Rasmus,"
