Andrew Neil offers Piers Morgan warning over talkTV role
Andrew Neil hints that Piers Morgan should reconsider his decision to launch a show on new TV station talkTV.

Andrew Neil has suggested that Piers Morgan may wish to rethink his decision to join start-up TV channel talkTV next year.

The new station - from Rupert Murdoch's News UK - will feature a lineup of debate and opinion-based programmes, leveraging talent from News UK's brands including talkRADIO, The Times, The Sun and Times Radio.

Centre of the schedules will be a new flagship daily show from Morgan in what will be his first regular TV gig since he quit as host of ITV's Good Morning Britain earlier this year.

Neil himself made a similar move, heading up the GB News channel when it launched earlier this year, but left under extremely acrimonious circumstances after just a few months amid a dispute with the channel's management.

Asked by the FT if he has any advice for Morgan, Neil replied: "Study my career over the past eight months, and then drive in the opposite direction.

"Take the fastest car you can get. Don't even look in the rear-view mirror, just go."

talkTV is expected to launch UK-wide in early 2022.
