Scotland have taken another step towards qualifying for the T20 World Cup after recording a second successive victory in Group B, the Tartan Army beating Papua New Guinea by 17 runs.

Fresh off the back of stunning Bangladesh at the weekend, Scotland went into Tuesday's fixture knowing that another two points would move them closer to the Super 12.

Matthew Cross and Richie Berrington were the heroes with the bat, the pair putting on 92 for the third wicket with scores of 45 and 70 respectively.

After reaching 165/9 off their 20 overs, Scotland took full control by reducing their opponents to 35/5 off six overs.

Despite Norman Vanua scoring 47 off 37 balls, Scotland never looked like losing and eventually bowled Papua New Guinea out for 148 with three balls remaining.

Josh Davey topped the wickets tally, the bowling all-rounder posting figures of 4-18 as he removed many of the middle-order.

Regardless of achieving back-to-back wins, Scotland will likely have to beat Oman on Friday to finish in the top two. body check tags ::
